Football is one of the most popular sports in the world and the number of football games played each year is staggering. According to FIFA, the governing body of international football, there were approximately 10,000 international football games played in 2018 alone. This excludes club competitions and matches played in domestic leagues. When these are taken into account, FIFA estimates that over 25 million football matches are played every year. This is an average of almost 69,000 football games each day. These games range from youth, amateur, and professional level competitions, making football one of the most widely played sports in the world.
